#015: Halloween

Ottobre 29, 2009

01

Here is FINALLY my Halloween inspired nail art.

There are four types of nail art in this tutorial, you can make it on only one nail or on all the nails!!

HAVE FUN!!

What you need: a brush, a sponge.

Colors: I used halloween colors like orange, purple, blue, black and white. For some decoration I also used a glitter silver polish.

How to: TYPE A “Jack-o-Lantern”

  1. A 01b Apply a orange polish. I used two coats here.
  2. A 02b With a dark green polish draw a little leaf at the base of your nail.
  3. A 03b With the thin brush and a black polish draw the face of the Jack-o-Lantern.
  4. A 04b I added some glitter on the eyes.

How to: TYPE B “Stripes”

  1. B 01b Apply a white polish. I used two coats.
  2. B 02b Draw a diagonal tip with a orange polish.
  3. B 03b Apply the purple polish over the orange one.
  4. B 04b Here I added a third color: a blue with a violet reflex. (I used RIMMEL 60 Seconds No. 809 BLUE ME AWAY from the new collection, I also bought No. 819 GREEN WITH ENVY and No. 430 CORALICIOUS, they are all wonderful especially CORALICIOUS, I will soon use it for a nail art!)
  5. B 05b With the glitter polish and the thin brush I added some lines between the colors to make them stand out more.

How to: TYPE C “Ghost”

  1. C 01b I used a blue polish with violet reflex.
  2. C 02b I cut a “ghost shape” in a piece of paper and put it on the nail with some tape.
  3. C 03b With a sponge and some white polish I made the little ghost.
  4. C 04b Draw eyes and mouth whit a thin brush and black polish.
  5. C 05b In the end I’ve added some glitter only on the blue polish.

How to: TYPE D “Little Monsters”

  1. D 01b Apply a white polish. I used two coats.
  2. D 02b With a sponge make some “stains” with orange and purple polishes.
  3. D 03b With the thin brush and the black polish draw the faces of the monsters. I also added a star.

#014: Midnight Desire

Ottobre 7, 2009

01

I’m getting tired of too much complicated nail arts so this time I made a really simple one.

Soon I will make some Halloween inspired nail arts so stay tuned!

What you need: some rhinestones.

Colors:

Smalti

  • Base Coat: Debby nail THERAPY smoothing base + minerals
  • Brown: RIMMEL WEAR MAXX No. 393 DESIRE
  • Top Coat: KIKO Extra strong & hard No.04

How to:

  1. 02b Apply your base coat.
  2. 03b Apply your nail polish. If needed apply a second coat.
  3. 04 Here is the color outdoor. This polish is a wonderful brown with a “reddish” reflex and is super difficult to make it come out good in a picture.
  4. 05 When the polish is dry apply some rhinestones. I used this ones that were already in that shape but If you use single ones you can make whatever shape you like. Have fun!!

#013: Happy Birthday!!

Ottobre 1, 2009

01

Yesterday was my birthday so I came up with this birthday-inspired nails. There are presents on the nails and a cake on the thumb.
Actually I think that also five cakes would have been cute, maybe I will try that next time!

What you need: a thin brush, a needle.

Colors:

Smalti

  • Base Coat: Debby nail THERAPY smoothing base + minerals
  • Nude: KIKO No: 220
  • Pink: Broadway Extra Color No. 03
  • Silver Glitter: RIVEEL No. 131
  • White: KIKO No. 101
  • Glitter: KIKO No. 163
  • Top Coat: KIKO Extra strong & hard No.04

How to:

  1. 02b Apply your base coat.
  2. 03b Apply a coat of nude polish and then some silver glitter. Actually I don’t think this is such a grat combination of colors, probably it would have been better without the glitter so if you don’t like leave just the nude polish.
  3. 04b I applied the nude polish on all the four fingers and the pink one on the thumb.
  4. 05b With the brush and the pink polish draw a cross on the nail and then make a ribbon. I choose to make the ribbon only on the ring finger but you could do that on all the nails.
  5. 06b This is the result.
  6. 07b On the thumb I applied some white polish for make the cake. Help yourself whit the brush for give the right shape.
  7. 08b Put some glitter on the white polish and, when dry, use a needle to make the cherry. Do a bigger red dot and then a smaller white one. When PERFECTLY dry apply your top coat.

#011: Bubble Pop

Settembre 25, 2009

01

This is a little experiment I made a few days ago.
I wanted to see if I could use paper to decorate my nails. Well, the answer is YES!!
I used very thin paper to make the circles.

What you need: thin paper, a thin brush.

Colors:

Smalti

  • Base Coat: Debby nail THERAPY smoothing base + minerals
  • Light Blue: KIKO No. 159
  • Yellow: RIVEEL No. 190
  • Lilac: DEBORAH 7 Days Long No. 827
  • Green: DEBORAH 7 Days Long No. 793
  • Pink: RIMMEL 60 Seconds Vinyl Stars No. 633 STARLIGHT
  • Silver: DEBORAH Shine TECH No. 22
  • Silver Glitter: RIVEEL No. 131
  • Top Coat: KIKO Extra strong & hard No.04
How to:
  1. 02b Apply your base coat.
  2. 03b Apply two coats of white polish.
  3. 04b Cut a few circles of paper and, with a clear polish, apply them on your nails. Be sure to make them stick perfectly to your nail.
  4. 06 This is the result after I made all my nails. I already liked it like this but I wanted to give them a glitter touch.
  5. 05b I added a few lines of polish of the same color of the circles and a few lines of silver polish. On the circles I added some silver glitter. When everything was perfectly dry I applied my top coat.

#010: Mint Ribbon

Settembre 10, 2009

01

This nail art is really similar to the one I posted last time so I will count it as a variation.

What you need: a thin brush, some rhinestones.

Colors:

Smalti 1

  • Base Coat: Debby nail THERAPY smoothing base + minerals
  • Light Green: KIKO No. 268
  • Green: RIVEEL No. 121
  • Fuxia: RIMMEL Lycra PRO No. 402 URBAN PURPLE
  • Glitter Pink: KIKO No: 241
  • Top Coat: Deborah 7 Days Long No.00

How to:

  1. 02b Apply your base coat.
  2. 03b Apply two coat of light green.
  3. 04b Draw the tip with a darker green.
  4. 05b With the thin brush draw a line with the fuxia polish.
  5. 06b On the ring finger and the thumb I added a small ribbon. It isn’t an easy thing to do so if you are not skilled I suggest you to leave the nail like that. I hate when I mess up a nail and I have to start again.
  6. 07b Here my thumb. In the end I added also a glitter pink polish over the fuxia to give it a 3D feeling and in the end a little rhinestone.

I took my inspiration from a Japanese magazine. Here is the original:

#008: Purple Mist

Luglio 5, 2009

Purple Mist

This is my first nail art made with water. This technique is really easy and fun, maybe a little messy!

What you need: a bowl with water, a toothpick.

Colors:

Smalti

  • Base Coat: Deborah 7 Days Long No.00
  • Glitter Purple: KIKO No. 167
  • Lilac: MAYBELLINE Water Shine No. 24 Simply Mauve
  • Brown: KIKO No. 224
  • Fish Scale Glitter: KIKO No. 170

How to:

  • 02b Apply your base coat.
  • Immagine 004 Drop some nail polish on the water. Here I used the colors in this order: purple, lilac, brown. Dip your nails in the water. With the toothpick remove the polish left over on the water and then take it off. On youtube there are a lot of videos with this technique (search: “water marble effect”).
  • 03b I did it two or three times to have the stripes in different direction. Remove the polish on your skin and from the back of your nails.
  • 04b Last, I’ve added some fish scale glitter. I really like how the green/blue glitter goes with the purple.
